Jessica founded this practice to address a growing need for flexible staffing with specialized maritime counsel. She is a Proctor in Admiralty and draws from her background in BigLaw and boutique admiralty firms to augment and advise corporate legal departments, law firms, and marine insurance claims teams on pre-litigation claims and litigation, regulatory and transactional matters. She is admitted to practice in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. 

Jessica is Chair of the Maritime Law Association’s International Organizations Conventions and Standards Committee and a member of the MLA Proctor Admissions Committee. She is a former Chair and current Steering Committee Member of the Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee of the American Bar Association Torts Trial and Insurance Practice Section and is co-Chair of the Steering Committee for its biennial “Admiralty Disruption” Conference. Jessica is an active member of the admiralty bar and has presented and written on a variety of maritime law topics.

She lives in the Boston suburbs with her husband and four children. 


Rick Beaumont

With legal roles in-house for marine insurers, at boutique maritime law firms, and at the Federal Maritime Commission, Rick has deep experience with the complexities of maritime law.  He is a Proctor in Admiralty and for six years was an executive at two of the largest International Group P&I clubs supporting shipowners with their full range of liability issues from casualty response, pollution and cargo risks, and eight-figure Jones Act injury claims to sanctions, fines, and charter party disputes.

Rick sailed as a deckhand aboard a commercial fishing vessel in the Bering Sea and represented cargo underwriters in litigated matters, advising clients on insurance coverage issues at another boutique maritime law firm.

Rick is known for providing practical, commercially-minded solutions to difficult legal problems and is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia.

Sarah is experienced in admiralty litigation and provides day-to-day advice to meet the needs of maritime clients. She has represented ship owners, ferry owners, tug and tow operators, maritime pilots, vessel manufacturers and dealerships, marine construction companies, marine underwriters, boatyards and marinas in all aspects of maritime law. Her admiralty experience includes matters involving vessel arrest, maritime liens, Jones Act and unseaworthiness claims, pleasure and personal watercraft liability, Coast Guard investigations, marine construction, vessel construction contracts and claims, and marine insurance.

Sarah is a former Chair of the Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee of the American Bar Association Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section. She has authored numerous articles on admiralty and maritime law and wrote the chapter addressing punitive damage awards under General Maritime Law in the Second Edition of Damages Recoverable in Maritime Matters. She has been a featured speaker at maritime conferences for the American Bar Association, the American Conference Institute, the Federal Bar Association, the Maritime Law Association of the United States, the Tulane Admiralty Law Institute, and the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association.

Sarah is admitted to practice in Maine where she lives with her husband and four children. She enjoys traveling, boating, fishing, and lobstering.


Brendhan Thompson

Brendhan is an experienced maritime litigator who has spent his entire professional life in the maritime and transportation arenas. He has represented domestic and international ship owners, maritime oil and gas industry companies, and various maritime service industry entities, with a focus on defense and prosecution of maritime collisions and allisions, personal injury and death claims, maritime limitation of liability actions, arrest/attachment of vessels and other maritime property, contract and charter party drafting and compliance, property damage, and vessel construction matters. Brendhan’s most recent positions included assisting clients in litigation, strategy, general advices, policy, and contractual matters and was engaged in all phases of litigation from immediate post-casualty response through discovery, trial, and appeal.

Prior to attending law school, Brendhan was a civilian transportation manager and logistician for the Department of the Army, specializing in port management and vessel operations for worldwide military movements. Additionally, during a hiatus from practicing law, he was employed as an able-bodied seaman and tender captain on the circumnavigational Five Deeps Expedition, the world’s first manned expedition to the deepest point in each of the five oceans.

Brendhan also holds a USCG Captain’s license and occasionally charters his boat in his spare time. He is admitted to practice in Louisiana and South Carolina.


Angie Fredrickson

Angie brings over a decade of experience in the maritime industry with a focus on employment and environmental law and special emphasis on the California regulatory landscape and the United Nations Conventions on the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL). Her practice includes matters involving marine insurance, admiralty procedure, environmental casualties, regulatory compliance, maritime contract disputes, seafarer and longshore worker personal injury and death claims, and general maritime casualties. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Angie earned her master’s degree in marine environmental affairs and began her career with the Port of Long Beach as an environmental planner, where she worked closely with colleagues at the Port of Los Angeles to implement the San Pedro Bay Clean Air Action Plan for several years before joining the Port of Seattle as the youngest member of the Seaport’s Leadership team.

Angie is an active participant in various port and trade associations, including the Maritime Law Association of the United States and the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association and enjoys learning Argentine tango, practicing yoga and meditation, and spending time in nature with her daughter and husband!
